Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive in Entebbe
DAY 1: Arrive in Entebbe

Arrive in Entebbe on the first day of the Uganda Gorilla Safari. Ensure you're prepared for the immigration clearing with Yellow Fever and Covid-19 Vaccination Cards, Valid Passport, and Visa, which you should process online at least two weeks before your trip. It would also be very convenient to know the latest travel restrictions before you board your flight to Uganda.

A driver from Papyrus Guesthouse, a small cozy hotel in the Entebbe suburbs, will pick you up and transfer you to the guesthouse. Check in and maybe explore Entebbe's activities like shoebill tracking on Lake Victoria, visiting the orphaned chimps on Jane Goodal's Ngamba Island, or shopping at the mall.

The meal plan for this day will be Bed and Breakfast.

DAY 2: Entebbe - Kisoro Flight (1 hr)
DAY 2: Entebbe - Kisoro Flight (1 hr)

You'll have a one-hour flight from Entebbe at 8:00 am and land in Kisoro, about 2 hours outside Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. An English-speaking driver will be ready to whisk you off onto the 32 km dirt road to the park's southern sector.

If you prefer, the Uganda Gorilla Safari allows you to take a detour off-the-beaten-path into the unusual. Join our walking safari guide for a two-hour community walk through villages, cultivated gardens, meadows, and steep slopes to Lake Mutanda. You can hope into a dug-out canoe at lake Mutanda and paddle two hours across the lake with some of the most eye-catching views. Have lunch at Lake Mutanda Resort, meet your driver, and continue to your lodge in Nkuringo. This part is optional, of course.

The Meal plan for this day is full-board.

DAY 3: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
DAY 3: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Wake up very early, have your breakfast and bring your lunch pack to the visitor center by 7:30 am. Briefing for the gorilla trekking excursion starts at that time; you can't miss it.

The warden will give you all the information you need for an exhilarating jungle experience and assign you one of the many gorilla groups during the briefing. They will also allow seven other trekkers, two armed rangers, and an expert guide to join you on this expedition. Thirty minutes later, you'll walk or drive to the trailhead on the forest's edge and begin your long-awaited hike.

Don't underestimate the trek; it's quite challenging for many. You will spend a couple of hours following your guide through thick jungle vines, crossing streams, and creating trails. But the rewards of meeting the gentle giants living their day silently in the jungle will wash you of all the hard labor. Meeting the great apes is why you joined the Uganda gorilla safari adventure; relax and enjoy your moment.

After your experience, your guide will find the shortest route to your waiting vehicle out of the jungle. Be back at the lodge to relax the rest of the day or join a walking safari guide on another community walk.

DAY 4: Optional Activities
DAY 4: Optional Activities

This holiday is left for you to relax, enjoy the views and find the most peaceful moments to wash away your daily life's hustles. Food and drinks are complimentary at the lodge.

Optional activities include: visiting the forest native Batwa villages. The Batwa lived in the Bwindi Forest with the gorillas and other animals until they were ousted to page way for conservation. Today they live hard life trying to cope with the modern world with re-enacted dying cultures and unkind poverty. A walk through their pocket forest or community is quite captivating.

DAY 5: Fly Kisoro to Entebbe
DAY 5: Fly Kisoro to Entebbe

Our driver will transfer you to the airstrip after your breakfast. Your flight to Entebbe leaves at 10:00 am, and the drive from the lodge takes about 1.5 hours.

In Entebbe, we can check you into your hotel of choice or at Papyrus Guesthouse for day use to be on time for your flight back home.
